Emotional wellbeing in a digital world

Philippe Verduyn is Associate Professor in psychology at Maastricht Universit. In his work he examines emotional wellbeing in the context of an increasingly digitalized world. His research focuses on how digital technologies—such as social media platforms and smartphones-affect emotional experiences, emotion dynamics, and psychological wellbeing. Drawing on theories from affective science and employing rigorous empirical methods, his work seeks to clarify the conditions under which digital engagement supports or undermines emotional health. By linking fundamental emotion research to everyday digital behavior, Philippe Verduyn’s research contributes to a more precise and evidence-based understanding of wellbeing in digital environments.
